How do I log in to my CPE account?

Click on the Log In option located in the upper right corner of the page. If you are a current customer, enter your username and password. If you want to set up an account, access the Join option to do so.

How do I take a course?

To take a course, begin by logging into your account. Then click on My Account in the header bar, then Account, and look for your course in the Courses and Programs section. Click on the course you want to complete. The system will begin with a course overview message. Click on next in the upper right corner; the system will automatically load the course onto your computer (which you can download and print). Then click on next in the upper right corner, which brings you to the testing page. Once you have completed the test, click on next again, and then Download Certificate.

How do I download a course?

Our courses are available in PDF format. You can download each course by logging in, accessing the course, and clicking on the download button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen (it looks like a paper clip). You can then print the PDF file from your computer.

How do I receive a course completion certificate?

Once you successfully complete a test through our on-line testing system, the system will automatically prepare a completion certificate, which you can access at once. If you need to access a completion certificate that you earned at some point in the past, log into your account, click on My Account in the header bar, then Profile, and look in the Achievements section for any completed courses. Click on the PDF icon for whichever course certificate you need, and it will be automatically downloaded to your computer.

My course completion certificate is incorrect. How can I get it fixed?

If you have taken an AccountingTools course prior to 2026, please contact us at customerservice@accountingtools.com. We implemented a new learning management system as of the start of 2026, and it is no longer possible to obtain accurate certificates through the new system for prior years. However, we retained the course completion records from all prior years. We will immediately create the requested certificate and send you a PDF. Sorry for the inconvenience!

How do I print a receipt?

To print a receipt for your course purchase, click on My Account in the header bar, then Account, and click on the invoice number in the Payment History section. The receipt will appear on your screen, which you can then print and/or download.

How do I reset my password?

On the login form, click the Forgot your password link. A new form will appear, prompting you to enter your email address. This is needed to receive the reset password link. Clicking the link will redirect you to a form where you can set a new password. After completing the form, you will be automatically logged into the school.

Do your courses qualify for credit in my state?

Yes. AccountingTools is a NASBA-approved continuing education provider, so our courses are accepted in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia. We provide more specific accreditation information on the state license information page.

What is the test format?

All tests are conducted through our online testing module, using multiple-choice questions. If you are uncertain about the correct answer to a question, you can pause the test and return to it later, or skip questions entirely. Once you have completed a test, it is scored automatically, so you will be informed of the result at once.

How long do I have to take a test?

You have one full year from the date when you purchased an AccountingTools course in which to take the test.

What is a passing grade?

The minimum grade to pass a test is 70% in most cases. Some ethics courses require a higher score.

Can I retake a test?

Absolutely. You can retake a test as many times as you want for a full year from the course purchase date, at no additional charge.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes! If you are buying courses for at least five people at your company, we can offer a single discounted rate for everyone. In addition, we can set up accounts for everyone in the group, as well as provide periodic status reports. Contact us at customerservice@accountingtools.com for more information.
